On the 65 Classic, I had a new key made hoping it fit the door as well as the ignition, only to find out the ignition key is different. One step back... Anyway, I refit the door lock (passenger side) and made sure it was working before reinstalling the panel and handles. Worked fine on the passenger side, but although it turned in the driver's side, it had no effect on the lock itself. So, off came the panel, and a quick session in how AMC locks function. Apparently, the outside locks are designed to be passive in comparison with the locking function of the interior door handles. A good soaking in free all and the outside lock returned to operation. Also figured out the method behind the vent visor retainer clips and reinstalled the driver's side visor. Little victories are sometimes the best ones!
