Hey guys, I have a good one ....
I will be attempting to hook up the power steering in my 82 Spirit. The brackets and pump I have are from a late 70's 304. The concern here is that the fitting at the steering gear is metric and uses o-rings. The pump is just a flare fitting. Do I need to have a custom hose made or is there a hose out there that would work? I thought about using a compression fitting, but I don't know if that will hold the pressure. Which way should I go?

Auto parts places like NAPA should have an adapter fitting. You could go somewhere that does hydraulic hoses (some NAPA's do this too) and have a custom hose built.

If it is a Saginaw pump you could get the metric fitting at a junk yard. Screw the whole thing out of the pump and transfer it to yours.

I think my local napa does custom hoses. I suppose I could buy the metric hose and have the non-metric end put on it.
Thanks!

I like this idea. It sounds easier than getting a hose MADE each time you need to replace it. |

Like was said , they make an adaptor fitting for the steering box , that is the cheapest and easy way to do it

Where do you get the adapter and/or what are the sizes?
