Today I popped by Rambler Spares on the way to my mates funeral. Whilst there, Jeff showed me a copy of Restored Cars Magazine dating back to 1983. This particular issue had a feature on Andrew Page's AMX which appears white in the black and photos. It also states that it is car number #09. Here also says that Andrew had a smashed AMX parts car. If this is correct, then my AMX is the number #09 car whilst the other is my brother in laws.

The confusing thing is gremx74 also has a Andrew Page AMX but I'm not sure on the number but I believe it is number #03 and is painted red. I believe this car came from W.A.

Any help on this?

I reckon gremx74's brother has or had #3 and #14, first name is Andrew, but last name is different.

There was another project car in Perth that sold a few years back #4, heard it was brought by Nino's brother, Nino has #1 and #17.

#10 is also in Perth.

Looks like AMX's run in families.

And an AMX with a back seat ? Yes, in #3

We also have number 16 here in Adelaide

And this one, not sure of the number

And ozziamc used to own this one, was Safety Wattle yellow before the BBG, now in Victoria somewhere

The no# 16 car I had owned may years ago. It was an original white car and painted red before I got it. I sold it around 1997. I purchased it of the second owner and had only 49000 miles on it at the time with the original owners manuals etc. It was sold new by Grenville Motors.

My question still remains. Did Andrew Page own other AMX's and what numbers.

I do know of another Aussie AMX in Victoria but unsure of the number. The owner would be well into his 60's and has owned the car for a very long time. His father was good mates with my grandfather over 30 years ago. This car is red and I have only seen it once.

Need to get ozziamc on this. I believe he has tracked at least 20 of the 24 (maybe 21 or 22, not sure) including the car that was sent over here as one to copy when they built our 24. One is back in the US, as a few of you probably know.

Thanks Dave. It would be great to find some more history about ownership of these cars, more so when they were new.

Today I have spoken to Bruce Neasmith, one of the writers for Restored Cars Magazine. He confirmed that indeed AMX 09 is the car featured in the 1983 copy of restored cars. Now I'm onto finding the first two owners of this car and go from there. Garry's #22 car has been with the #9 car for at least 30 years and the two cars have never been separated after all these years. Garry's car can now be confirmed it was wrecked prior to 1983 and has never seen the road since. More work to be done until I can find it's first owner.

Try Deon, IF he'll call you back.  Also, try going through the Transit Authority for past documents.  They only go back so far, but it's worth the effort and small cost.

I talked to the fella who runs 'AUOTPICS' who have thousands of motor racing photo's of Bathurst etc and he is going to chase up a photo (if any still exist) of the AMX showcased at the 69 Bathurst. Quote from Restored cars number 179 Nov-Dec2006 "A publicity photograph of the car (AMX) was taken at Bathurst, Mount Panorama race circuit, as it was faster than the cars in that days 500 mile endurance race".  Would be interesting to see pics and I wonder which one it was?
