Great pic! There were rumors that the Shahan's Hornet was an original SC/360 but I am pretty sure that it was just a base model & or SST 70 Hornet. Based on original pictures, I know that they had at least two different Hornet's that they built and ran. A lot of people think that the Hornet's they were running were 71's but I have never seen any actual documentation to confirm this. If they were really 71 model year cars, they would have been very early 71's as they have a lot of exterior parts that were 70 model year parts. They also would have had to have the cars very early, enough to set them up for the 71 racing season. If anyone has any info or proof to the contrary, I'd love to see it. Does anyone know the whereabouts of any of the Shahan Hornets?

Joe, the car is still around- last heard it was in the same collection as the Drag-on-lady.

Thanx Ian, you answered my question before I got it edited in my post...
I'd love to see some detailed pix of the car in its current condition.

Joe - I agree with you that the car in the picture is a '70 model. The picture was taken over Labor Day weekend of 1971 and I do not believe that the car could have been based on a 1971 production car. They might have installed some '71 trim pieces if they were available, but I remember the car being "worn", having been raced for some time. No way the car could have been in the condition I saw it and be a new car, unless it had been supplied in mid-summer.

It was at a caci show in the early nineties. I'll look back in my old newsletters for the pics.

Lou Dowling owned it at one time not too long ago. Not sure if he still has it, or if he sold it. LRDaum
