Yeah, Tom, you'd never know it was there. That could be a blessing or a problem. In my case it's a problem - because my wife hears it.... but now that I hear it, it makes me wonder. Such sounds are like pain, an indication that something is amiss.
(Yeah, I did turn my hearing aids up a bit.)
AMC didn't make a truly quiet car in the 1980s but this sort of sound isn't usual or normal even for a 1980s AMC.

(OK, so honestly a brand new Eagle wagon was a pretty quiet car, I know - I picked one up at the dealership just off the transport and run through dealer prep. It was a nice quiet smooth ride home. )
