Not much progress really to talk about. The engine that will be used for dyno testing the new intake has been back and forth to the machine shop several times for various reasons. I am also waiting for an oil pump mid-plate.

The AMC RPM AirGap has good bottom end and mid-range, but drops off quickly on the top end compared to equivalent intakes for other makes.   Would sacrifice some bottom end to gain on top.

Thanks, RD

AMC RPM AirGap http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/mc/manifolds/amc/rpm-air-gap.shtml is without center divider cutout just like an SBC Performer Airgap http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/mc/manifolds/chevy/performer-air-gap-sb.shtml. If more top end is needed one needs to use bigger carb because only 1/2 of the carb feeds 4 cyls instead of whole carb or cut the divider like in SBC RPM AirGap http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/mc/manifolds/chevy/rpm-air-gap-sb.shtml or use open spacer.

On top of my RPM AirGap I have a custom 1/2" blended open spacer, a Wilson 1" tapered open-plenum spacer, a Pro-Systems 950HP carburetor and a 14" x 4" filter with a circle-track drop-base air cleaner (profiled to improve airflow) and just fits within a slightly raised but otherwise stock cowl-induction hood. Intake has some plenum work and runner/port exit blending to Indy SR heads, 250@0.050" solid roller cam, 1 7/8" headers, dual 3" full exhaust, T56 transmission.

Cruises in overdrive just fine at 1800 rpm and has lots of low-to-mid-range torque. Combo wants more intake, but used the AirGap since I already had it. The new intake Edelbrock is developing sounds like it would get the most out of the rest of the combo, so waiting instead of trying a Torker.

Thanks,RD

Thanks for the update. I'm hoping for an intake and switch EFI Upgrade this winter! Fingers crossed for a SEMA release.
Good luck.

Not much to report, but the test engine block is finally back from the machine shop. Rotating assembly may be back by the end of the week.

Six more weeks has passed since the last post. How's the progress coming?
