Where does the neutral safety switch wiring in my 78 Pacer come out of?  I found that it should have been the same pig tail that connected to the original 904 as I need to connect to my new 727 but I can't find it in the car anywhere.  I am assuming it comes out of the firewall someplace.  Is that likely?  I know I didn't cut it off but I can't find it.

Not exactly sure on Pacer, since they did some different things there...not bad, just different.  Most AMC's with TorqueFlite have a 4 wire connector at fire wall, then extension harness to the transmission NSS connector (with three wires)  Hope this helps.

It may have stayed on the old trans, but it was plugged into the harness by the trans dipstick that I recall.

Starting to think that is what happened.

My '77 Hornet has a massive connector that goes through the firewall and has probably 20-40 wires going through it. It's basically the spinal cord of the car.

The neutral safety switch is just above the pan gasket surface of the transmission on the left rear side.

It's not just a neutral start switch, though: it's also your backup light switch.

Both parts of mine are bad, so I can start in any gear and don't have backup lights.
