1973 Ambassador didn't have a console. If equipped with bucket seats it had a center fold down arm rest. All 1973 Ambassadors were column shift. |

Consoles w/shifter was available on Matador Coupes with high-back bucket seats from 74 through the end of production in 78. In most cases, the console/shifter was a separate line-item option from the bucket seat option. While the basic console design was similar to pre-74 Matador coupes, the shifter assembly was different. |
