Got myself a 73 Gremlin. It had been sittin in the CA desert for 9-10 years with the 904 tranny on the ground beside it. 258 cyl base model rubber floor mat radio delete car. About the only upgrade on the car was the "Desert Cool" AC option. Near as I can tell it had one repaint, and the only rust on the car was on the floor board driver side about 8"x8".
The seller was a young guy who said it was his first car and he thrased the tranny from doing reverse drops and generally flogging the car as hard as he could.
It had a freeze plug out in the back of the head and a 6" long crack in the block. I replaced the freeze plug and JB welded the crack-no more leaks. This allows me to drive the car until I get a V-8 motor installed.

oh my oh my. brings back memories... my first car a Gremlin Base model rubber floor covers and radio delete. 232 standard on the floor. doing reverse .....coast..... clutch dumps was a joy back then too.....LOL

It took me a while to find out what the Desert Only marking meant on mine. It means the compressor never shuts off, and in humid air it could freeze the evaporator over. Not sure exactly how humid it would have to be though. I haven't run it enough to find out yet.
Looking forward to some pictures, love those kind of finds.

I got a rebuild kit off Ebay for $65 and was going to do the rebuild myself but I got to impatient about getting the car going . I had a shop rebuild it with my kit. total cost on the rebuild was $365.
Good to know about the AC. I'm going to get a roll of tint off of eBay and try the old DIY window tint. That cars a little rolling oven without AC and tinted windows in our summertime climate.

Yes we want to see pictures but it is not 10 post but 30 that you need to use this site to host them.
Now you can use any hosting site like Photobucket and you can start showing pictures now.
