But for continuity purposed (in this thread), here are a couple of pictures of how it came out:

Great post. Nice to see all the work being done on the Rambler Americans here on the forum.

Question! Has anybody here ever seen a real 67 Rambler American Rogue Convertible 343 4spd true 'X' code car in person? Larry Mitchell's book rumor's 7 built. How many 'X' code hard tops did AMC build in 1967?

Again, Great post and great job on your Rogue Bob.

Thanks a lot Kirk!

I too wish that more (authentic) documentation could be found... there seems to be a HUGE black-hole that exist regarding just about any of the '67s, which just adds to the wishfull thinking and wives' tales that get thrown around as if they were facts. Frankly I've always questioned the rather small number that has been claimed (what is it this week, 57 or 58 total X-code Americans in '67)... heck, I'll bet that Randall sold about 7-8 all by themselves... geez, I bought my first one from a Swanton Ohio dealership that only about 4 people on this planet even knew existed... LOLLOL... and all 4 of us are forum-members... ClapClap

But, they do seem to still keep popping up. I found mine in Yukon Oklahoma... how in the world did this poor thing get there after being stripped of all of her dignity (drive-train gone, all Rogue-trim gone, been painted about 7 different colors, etc.) ?  Confused

I worked at an AMC dealership in Schenectady, NY 67-69 and they sold a 67 American 2 dr 220 with a 343 4 speed. It was light green I think with the bench seat and rubber floor mat. He broke so many rear trans mounts under warranty, they wrapped a chain around the tail shaft and told him not to come back!

This car sounds real familiar to me could it be? Maybe but all 4 speed cars recieved carpet and not a rubber floor mat.Even shows in manual.Glad I found out was searching for a impossible part that would have been incorrect even if i had found one.Approve

...been working on odds & ends (doing everything I can, NOT to have to skim-coat and smooth the last fender & door!!)...

First I finally took my dash (plastics) to have them rechromed.

A note for everyone... a lot of us have mentioned that Mr.G's (in FT.Worth, Tx) is the place to send these pieces to, to have them done. Well, check around you local town. A lot of places that do powder-coating are beginning to offer this service too. I took them to Elite Plating here in Dallas.

I also stained & varnished all of the wood inserts, and did a quick trial-fit to make sure that everything was ok. All that's left is to paint the dash and have the pad recovered (I've got a freshly restored one, but it's the wrong color). Here's how it looks:

...now back to Elite Plating...
While there, I was talking to the owner about whether he had ever used this process on pot-metal, and he said that there'd be no problem... so, following his directions, I took my newly acquired console (from amc-rookie, here on the forum...Thumbs Up), which was in pretty sad shape... sanded off all of the imperfections, drilled/ground-out all of the pits... carefully filled all of the voids with body-putty... did LOTS of sanding, feather-fill primer, and more sanding... and had him plate those too.

All in all, I thing it came out pretty good (still have to put one more coat of black paint in all of the "slots").

Here's a before and after peak:
