Well I finally decided to go ahead and show everybody how old "Rose" (my wife's nickname for my '67 Rogue)...

As you can see, every ounce of dignity had been stripped off of the old girl... not a single piece of Rogue trim had been left... entire drive-train had been replaced (front to back)... hit on all four corners (plus in the middle of the front & back)... and then left out in a field WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN, for God knows how many decades...

So, the resurrection begins:

All four floor pans looked like this (or worse)...

Bottom all stripped, and ready for new floor pans...

Fore and aft of rear wheel wells has about the same rust areas on both sides...

Firewall, cowl, and window surrounds are all clean (no rust)...

Beginning to install the first of the four floor pans...

... and the work continues...

Rose is on the way back.  I bet she's still a little puckered though.  That was close.  Good job.  Joe

Actually, chasing down & buying all of those Rogue chrome-trim pieces, bucket seats, etc. would PUCKER anyone... Dead

More pictures, more done this week.

Tried my hand at welding this week... never did that before... Confused... but figured what the heck, who's going to see it if I mess up the floor-boards... Big smile.

Got both rear floor-pans installed, but ran in to a bit of a diversion pretty early on. It seems the drive-shaft hump was PAPER thin, and would "blow through" as soon as I even hinted at welding the pans to it.

So, I decided to make good use of one of my banged-up, bent, twisted original (I already have the replacements) front fenders... cut out a chunk of one of them (making sure to save the wheel-well lip... will use it to do some rust repair/replacement on the rear fenders), and made a new rear-passenger compartment drive-shaft hump... worked out pretty well.

Please don't laugh too loud/hard at some of my "lumpy" welds... practice, practice, practice..

looks like your having fun and doing a good job . great actually considering you've never welded before . how were the rockers ? were they in good shape or rusted through ? also how did you strip the paint off ? d/a ,chemical , or dipped ? i have a similiar project waiting in the wings and like you i've never welded before but figure what the heck . i already have all the replacement parts , just need the time and space to get going . looking forward to your progress .

Thanks Joe,

I stripped the car by using a heat-gun (looks like a hair-dryer... but blows about 1200*) to strip off all of the undercoating, then sand-blasted around all of the edges where the d/a wouldn't be able to get to, then came back over everything with a d/a.

The rockers & window-surrounds are PERFECT... (whew!!)... the floor-pans where shot, because all four windows had fallen off their tracks, and that's how the car sat (outside) for years, and years, and years...

Still plugging away. A little diversion this week...

Before I put in the the front floor-pans, I will need to mock-up my engine & transmission (with Javelin rear cross-member) so that I can insert plates into the back end of the frame-horns for the cross-member to bolt to)...

So, I decided to go ahead and weld up all of the holes in the fire-wall & fender-wells that I won't be using...

So here's the firewall, with the only holes left being for the steering column, master-cylinder, heater, and heater + A/C hoses.

Then I decided it was time to learn how to do butt-welds, so out comes the rusted area from in front of the right rear tire.

I then "wacked" out another chunk (from that poor front-fender that I used as the donor for the metal needed to make a new drive-shaft tunnel), reshaped it to match and welded it in... the welds ACTUALLY are solid... because the light is sooooo bright (too much contrast), the picture makes it look like there's gaps... but there aren't.
