Wow man that is really sharp looking. I really love the way the AMX lower quarters were used. That is as tight as it comes there. I am working on a 70 SST myself. Check it out on the thread. We are about 4-6 months from completion at this point of the game. Doing a 360 built up to get in the 425-475 HP range with an TF904 (well 998 is true nomeclature) I am hoping for low to mid 11 range in the quarter when it is done although it is not going to be a racer more of a resto-mod. Really like yours, if you do some form of RAM air on the stock hood let me know because I have been toying with the concept.

I am interested in how you will mate the 360 to the 998 tranny. Is it just a flywheel change or is there more involved? Also can the 998 handle that sort of horsepower and torque? I would have thought a switch to a 727 would be necessary. |

360 and 304 are the same bolt pattern as are the 727 and 904. Beauty of the 904/998/999 (all the same case just stronger internals in the 998 and 999. The 904 is lighter and more efficient and with the heavy duty internals good for about 500 HP. So all that said the hardest part is going to be the shift linkage details and the driveshaft. There is a speedo cable from apd that will work on the 904 to the earlier model speedo. It is funny how much the 904 is overlooked for the 360. It is actually a good setup and in the past I have never had issue with pushing 400+ through it and with about 10% less tranny loss.

I found a speedo cable on EBay that does the job. I just put one in for my 998 to 68 speedo. Works great. Think it was about $25 new.
I will keep an eye on your rebuild thread to see how it works out. I would like to do the same thing with a rebuilt 360. Keeping my good 998 would be a plus. |

One point that I failed to mention and should have. Be sure to use the 360 flex plate unless you internally balance the motor. If you do internally balance you can use a 258 flex plate which has no weights. Keep an eye out and I will try to get some pics during reassembly of any mods I need to make.
