Bought some Molnar rods for a 360 build that I may end up using the stock rods instead. I am working on plans for a stroked 360 using a 401 crank offset to a 3.81 stroke. Since I have the Molnar rods I am considering machining the big end to a width of .940 and machining the 401 crank to accept this. I have looked at the 360 bearing length which is .837 and this gives me a .100" difference to rod width and work on getting the rods centered to the pistons. Pistons are c/h of 1.425, rod ratio puts it at 1.541. Big question is am I over looking something?

With that amount of rework it would be better to sell the rods and buy the correct 401 rods.

Ok. 1st is the big end width is .995 not .990 I want this trimmed down to a width of .940.
2nd Ken Parkman, can't use the 401 rods due to both ends and the length is way off, for a stroked crank. Rod journal will be cut to standard 360 diameter. 3rd A new stroker crank is above my pay scale. This is a 360 block bored to 4.125 as I have a set Lunati piston already so this looks like the plan would work. I know some of you have already done stroker cranks so the crank grinding shouldn't be the problem. Its fitting the molnar rods to fit by cutting them down. Would like to here a little more feedback. |

Make sure the compression height on the piston will work with that application. Seems it will not if it is for a 360.

ok in my first post I mentioned that the compression height is 1.425. So with the c/h at 1.425 and the stock 360 rod length of 5.875 and the new stroke of 3.81/2 (1.905) the overall height is 9.205. Stock deck height is 9.208 (as we all know).
