Here are some pictures of VAM's 266 duration degree camshaft. I have a used unit as a spare for my car, I was able to locate a brand new one and decided to make a visual comparison.
This camshaft was created by VAM's engineering department and introduced in 1969 for the VAM Javelin's also new 252 cubic inches six cylinder engine, replacing AMC's original stock 244 degree unit. The 266 degree camshaft was installed in 1971 in VAM 232 engines, the 244 degree unit was still used in VAM Jeep engines until around the late 1970s. All VAM 282s, intrudced in 1971, carried the 266 degree unit. The cams in this unit were measured at 43 milimeters. |
