Interesting, IIRC all the negativity associated with Fram filters was precicely because they didn't have back flow valves. Confused Now what, some do, some don't?

Based on my recollection from  posts here and elsewhere the negatives were associated with poor construction and cheap filter media.   An inverted filter needs an anti-drain back valve to provide more consistent oil pressure on start-up and to reduce the mess when changing the filter.  The PB50 is designed for inverted service.   If I knew of a WIX filter with the same specs as the PB50 I would use it.   Joe

I've had my '62 wagon for almost 2 years and can't find the time to put her back together. You have a good start with yours.

A

A little more progress today. Got the new fueler sender in the tank and mounted the reconditioned tank. The fuel sender came from Doug Galvin and the screen on the tip came from Mac's antique Ford parts (as well as the o-ring for the sender).

Well I have to get Leona out of the driveway because she is blocking my 65 American in the garage.  But one thing leads to another.  I have put the front brakes on Leona and have an NOS master cylinder ready to go in.  I needed to paint behind the master cylinder and had some extra paint mixed up so I attached the surface rust on the rear floors (under the former rubber mat).  I put the recored radiator in tonight and I will do some cleanup in the engine compartment.  The front mats look good and I'm saving them for now but I'm somewhat concerned about surface rust under the jute padding.   Here are some pics in no particular order.

Joe,

We hope you'll bring Leona to the socalamx show next month, Saturday, May 19th at the NHRA museum.  Even if it's not exactly the way you want it or is still under construction, we'd still enjoy looking at it.

So that's what a 62 Classic's gas tank is suppose to look like. Mine, is wadded up into a ball under the car because of an idiot and a winch. I'm surprised you could find a master cylinder for one of these. Mine will need one to. I bet it wasn't cheap. The front floor mat is nice! Like you said, alittle cleaning and some armor-all should bring it back to life. Does your car have the notorious rust around the heater box and under the back, top of the fenders? I actually wish my car was more like yours. Mine has all the chrome down the sides and trunk, it has the push-button auto, power-steering, and no radio. Yours looks to be a base model and I'd rather have it that way. I love your wagon, Joe. Some reverse baby moon chrome wheels would look awesome (hint, hint).

It was garaged most of it's life as a one-(now two_)owner car.    I found the master cylinder on Ebay and snapped it up.  I also have a used master cylinder (thanks is a forum member) which is very probably usable so let me know when you need it.  Watch Ebay for these.  Sometimes a seller doesn't know how rare they are.  Truly one year only.  But I think a 63 later Classic/Ambo unit would work fine if you need to go that way.  Joe
