I was at the Mecum auction yesterday in KC when the red AMX sold, I thought it went at 32K. The black one was still open for bidding after it did not meet reserve from Fridays auction at $13,500. The the black AMX was listed as a 390 and the red a 360.

I was there too! Dang, I wish I'd known somebody from this forum was going, it would have been fun to meet up.
Pretty good auction, but I did get a little yawn factor at seeing the usual 75-100 Camaro RS/SS cross the block. Needed some good AMC action, and it was spotty. These AMX's were simply outstanding, though.

If they had let the auction run a little longer it would have hit $35-37 IMO. I didn't time it but it seemed it was only a 10-15 minute auction. I watched one car go on and on and on and on, must have been close to 30+ minutes, and it was a $30K car. It probably was a good friend of the auction owner/staff. Just like the BJ Auctions, its who you know. Edited by 70 Donohue 390 - Apr/01/2012 at 2:21pm |

Do you mean 10-15 second auction? If they ran each car 10-15 minutes, they wouldn't finish till summer. I sold a car at auction 4 or 5 years ago and my car got the bums rush you are referring to. They waited for 1 or 2 minutes for some cars but mine was "wham bam thank you m'am" 30 seconds max. You have to have connections at these auctions.
