I've been searching around and have found too much info.

I'm looking at 15's and 16's...maybe 17's depending on price and options.

What I need to know is what's the max width in inches ( or ratio) that will fit in the wheel wells and not rub. Also, what rim offest will I need? Thanks

This one has 255 60 X 15" on 8.5 wide wheels on the rear, and 235 60 X 15" on 7" wide wheels up front. If I remember correctly the back spacing on both is 3.75, but I'll need to check that to be sure when I get home.

I have 235's up front and 245's on the rear. Both 17".

With the front tires, I have about 9mm clearance:

On the rear I have 30mm clearance between the wheels and leaf springs:

I think the offset is +25, but I'm not sure. I used 50mm wheel spacers to fit the wheels the right way.

Craig, if you could check that for me I would deeply appreciate it.

Do you have any trouble with the rear tires touching in hard corners?

I have 17x8's on my 69 Javelin. 205's on the front and 245's on the back. Wheels have 4.5 inch backspace and I need to use a spacer up front.

There is more information on the site, some searching should find it.

Edit, found this...

Hey Billy
I checked and they are 3.75 back spacing front and rear.

No rub problems on the rear other than hard cornering on rough pavement. Sometimes one of the front tires rubs the wheel opening when I am pulling in or out of a driveway at an angle, but I think that can be fixed by just adjusting the fender at the front fender brace. When I first put the tires on the rear sat up too high, so I made some 1/2" spacer plates that go between the spring pack and rear housing. If I removed the spacer plates the rear tires would have more room but would look like a stink bug.

Yeah, It's the Javelin on the very first reply at the top of this page!! If that picture one is not good enough I'll look to see if I have a better one than that.

Hehehe, I know that one is yours. I'm looking for a better look at the rear. A profile shot if you will of just the side of the car.

Hey Dennis, do you think you could have gotten away with 4" backspacing?

Do you think you can fit 245's in the front?
