Manifold oil baffling with PCV baffles.
Made it from .059 thick 316 SS sheet. The PCV baffles are machined from 6061-T651 billet Aluminum. I figure I do not really need to run PCV valve(s) but on the street it makes fof a cleaner less smelly ride..... Anyway it keeps the hot oil from direct contact with the valley cover. |

hey,i've posted some of the issues i've been having on my 401 rebuild with the pcv and baffling.put on a catch can for the pcv,now i had another shop put on my performer intake and the valley pan gasket, instead of the air gap i had on it.they used the rubber end seal gaskets, and guess what, drove it 5 miles to my house at normal speed, plates are expired, and the end seal is blown out.they did a comp test and they said it was at 140 psi. i'm not on speaking terms with the machine shop that rebuilt it.any help?thanks

if you have had any head work done such as resurfacing, then you can no longer use the end seals. the gap has been closed up due to the machine work. you have to use a bead of RTV in place of the end seals. run a 1/4" bead of RTV where the end seals go, install and torque the manifold and then let it sit overnight before starting or even turning over the motor. RTV has to cure.

I can only guess if you "blew them out" from pressure you have a venting problem.
Any 4 stroke piston engine must be vented. In a modern V8, AMC included there is a PCV valve and a vent, usualy in the filler cap. In the past I added a vent in the front of the valve covers as well. PCV alone is never enough venting especially under load!

We mr. odd401, try making sure the venting is adequate before overhauling it again.
For mr. Ant. More show off photos. All made with lay-out in Mastercam X4 but with user Macro-C programming (by hand). |

A work in progress, the plenum in the Mori-Seki SH-503 4 axis Horizontal mill.
I am making a "six pack" top later. And I will try both. Everyone has a single four, so I will not bother with making one. To make another one like this would cost big $$$ BUT Never having seen one I designed a near copy of the cast INDY Mod man. For about $500 you can own one from Indy!
