Hey guys and gals. Got kind of a weird one for you. I have two of the non functioning fiberglass cowel hoods. I know I can just open up the back section and add some screen mesh to kinda make it functional. I know that there are stock parts out there to make it work with the air breather. But I don't have 20 million in the bank to buy a stock set up.

So is there a cheaper aftermarket system that I can cobbler together to make my breather actually work with the cowel hood? If so what would I need to get and from where?

not sure who did it, but there is a thread on making it functional. I guess you could make it look stock but under your requirements, I guess it does not matter.

you can cut out an adequate area and bond gutter guard from the inside.

as for a seal... K&N has a top filter lid that will fit the oem base.

I cut my snorkel and filled the hole, so once sealed by closure, the air is always through the hood, not the engine bay.

to make the hood seal, you would need to cut out a section of sheet and mount to the hood frame to seal off properly.

I may be able to search and find the thread, as it has some measurements and pix of the process for some ideas.
