I really don't think that's something you're going to find unless you start digging around in yards with cars issued the Cruiseomatic or FMX. You're just not going to find the Borg Warner unit in anything and it will be just as hard to find a period correct floor shifter linkage with all the couplings. You might have to ask the support team at American Shifter for help with this but even then you might be upsold into a full adapter kit. Do you have the period correct floor shifter for this?

What exactly are you thinking of putting into what car, I'd be looking for the 11B from a 70/71 360, since that has a number of improvements to improve durability.

i have a floor shift trans from a 70 360 javelin, its condition is unknown but i can rebuild it if needed. i may have just a lever but i will need to dig thru some stuff and it may take a while.
what flexplate do you have? 6 bolts or 4 studs to mount converter? |

You can just swap the shift lever between transmissions if you are putting a column shift transmission into a car that already had a floor shifter.
If you are going from M35 to M11 then you need the flex plate as well. I'm assuming that a 69 AMX with 290 would have had the M11? |

some of the 68 m11 290 cars used a 6 bolt small bw12 converter that will bolt up to the bw 35 6 bolt flex plate if that is what he has. the hard part is finding the early converter core to rebuild but finding a good 290 4 stud flexplate is also pretty hard to find.
i may still have a rebuilt 6 bolt converter. |

The 290/4V used the M-11, 290/2V used an M-40. The only difference between a Shift Command and Flash-O-Matic is the valve body. Shift Command is the now standard 1-2-D, FOM of course the L-D1-D2 pattern.
I had to look at the TSMs again (now have my set at home!!). Should have looked closer at the 68 TSM -- Shift Command only. Shift Command came out in 64 (a year earlier than I thought) and was floor shift only through 67. If you know the length and clocking of the Shift Command lever it wouldn't be hard to replicate. Put it on top of the original column shift lever if possible, but you may have to cut the column shift lever off. I've seen dual position levers on other trannys, can't recall the make though. Some just reverse the position for floor vs. column shift. Easy to clamp/bolt/weld an opposing lever to those. Removable levers (GM trannys? maybe all now...) are great though... |
