I purchased my first AMC, a 77 Gremlin, new and literally off the showroom floor, at Stickel Auto Sales, in Millburn, NJ. Interestingly, a quick search on Google Street View shows that the building looks nearly identical to how it looked back in the day, and is still a dealership, but of classic cars - a fitting re-use of the location. Here's the link to google: https://www.google.com/maps/@40.7228215,-74.285791,3a,75y,350.12h,93.02t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1scmvTdb66H7Jdqd14YtXh7w!2e0!7i16384!8i8192 Edited by 73Gremlin401 - Feb/24/2019 at 8:14am |

If you have a photo of the trunk tag or any paperwork with an address and/or phone or any other info, please post it! I really need to go through these posts and update the dealer list one day... If you know the address and any other info post that also, and the dates it was in operation. Just note if you know for SURE the dates or if they area "best guess". You can go to the local library and look up local newspapers starting with the date of your car and go forward and back in time looking for ads to get the approximate dates and other info if you're really that interested. They may not have advertised much the last year or two, but surely the first year and all the "good" years.

Does anyone know anyone who was once affiliated with Tri-Valley Rambler in Bakersfield, CA in the late sixties. They made a dealer special Javelin called the SST-X to promote sales. I am wondering if any of those cars exist today? Menace? Anyone? Joe

Indeed. Although, it really needs to be put into a wiki so that several of us can add & update data. I've sent the various 'curators' of the dealership list corrections, photos, etc numerous times, but they never seem to get added. |

Gasaway Motors 1319 Wabash Ave TerreHaut IN Dealership was owned by grandfather of Ron Holt (a friend of Nick Zappa, admin of Facebook Ambassador V8 Rambler Club). This is probably the same building. (??) |

That Doraty postcard has a Marlin sign in the window. I believe it was taken in 1966. Several years ago I was in a Doraty dealership for an oil change special and noticed several photos from the Rambler days in the showroom.

Takes a long time to go through and verify info and update those lists! Longer if you let it get way behind though... like I have.

That's why I'm suggesting putting it into a wiki, so that multiple trusted people can work on it. |
