I was at a swap meet last weekend and there was a plastic AMC vertical sign face in the back of a pickup truck. It was about 10 or 12 feet long and about 15 inches or so wide; with a thickness of about a quarter of an inch. They wanted $100 for it and the surface was not in great shape. If it were in better shape, it would have come home with me.

I'd like to find a sticker or license plate frame from Sparks AMC in Potosi. Or even a keychain. I wonder if any of those exist?

Interesting project.  Since there was only one AMC dealer in Las Vegas and I know exactly where it was (the building is still there), I'll have to get a shot of it.  It was Jim Marsh AMC/Jeep and I know Jim.  He owns a Chrysler/Jeep dealer in Vegas.  I'll have to ask him if he still has any photos of the old dealership.

Mark,

I think it would be interesting to ask your friend (Jim) the ex-AMC dealer what he remembers about dealing with AMC as a company.  Funny or sad experiences with AMC customers.  Service difficulties.  Factory screwups.  Things like that.  When and if I can meet with the guy who owned the Salinas dealership, those types of questions are what I hope to ask.  Also, see if he has listings of the zone offices and old company files.  If he knows of any parts stashes that would be neat to know too.

That's a great idea.  I'll definitely have to do that.  I would be curious myself.
One story I heard was when the SX/4 came out, Marsh and some of his salesmen took one out to the desert to have some fun.  Allegedly, they had too much fun and the car was trashed.  Marsh denies that this ever happened.

I'm in the process of making one of those for outside my shop.
