These are for 16-14 gauge wire (originals likely 16-18 but I use 14 gauge wire) and quarter inch stud opening (actually a TAD over but quarter inch should be fine. I can no longer get them locally. Where I used to says "no, don't have, can't get". Online searches have also come up all but negative. Some close, but the wire sizes too small or the stud size too small or the wrong material. But frankly even in copper I can plate them to make them silver so if I can find something the right SIZE and SHAPE, I'll deal with the rest. Needed for restoration purposes - so yes, AMC related, and non-engine electric related as these are often used on blower (heater/AC) motors - for the ground wire. Hoping for a good match, shape, size, but especially important is stud size and wire size. |

Check out Digi-Key, looks like they might have some that are close to what you are looking for. Example:

Del City Electrical has those in various sizes. They are called "star ring terminals"
Non-Insulated Star Ring Terminals - 16-14 GaugeNon-insulated star ring terminals are connectors that are used to mate, connect, or terminate a single wire. The ring shape of the terminal allows for connection to a screw or stud type electrical application, while the serrated edges pierce through coated or painted surfaces to ensure a reliable electrical connection. Non-insulated star ring terminals are best suited when special performance or installation characteristics are not needed. Non-insulated star ring terminals are commonly used for grounding applications in automotive and marine vehicles, but can be used in various other electrical applications.

Thanks - will check them but it sounds familiar. The stud sizes of most of these only goes up to a 10. These need to be at least quarter inch. The ones used on blower motors are actually a bit larger than 1/4"

Yeah, I verified I'd been on that page. 10 is too small. They need to be larger stud size. The physical size of theirs is a lot smaller stud and outer diameter.
The ones I need are just shy of going over 5/16", fit loose on a 1/4" stud - they are heavier and larger. These are the right idea, just too small to work |

Saw those, 2984789 is as close as I've seen in all my looking. They are the correct stud size and the appearance is pretty good. My only "but" would be - but they are for 12-10 gauge wire. I suppose I could still use them on 16-14 gauge wire. Just suspect they may be a bit large on the wire so would take some extra tweaking. I solder all joints anyway. Yeah, greyhounds - that is a match. Wonder if I can order directly from them.... I ran across some the other day but the company doesn't sell less than 10,000 pieces for commercial accounts. Maybe Auveco will. Auveco 21401 even LOOKS correct. The sizes are certainly right.
Will contact them and see what happens. Thanks for all responses so far. It's been helpful. |
