Lifter Noise at Start-Up

 

 

 

Napa Gold #1258 (Wix #51258) are defective.  Of the 5 or so I've bought, every single one has had a non functional drainback valve.

 

Frams suck.  The old (20 years or more) Frams are good filters if you can find one in some guys garage, but the modern ones are downright scary. The old PH11 fits. 

 

The AC Delco PF24 is just a Champion labs filter (K&N, Mopar, lots of rebrands) so there is nothing special about it, no fancy filtering medium or anything. BUT the drainback valve works very well and it is a good quality reliable filter for a good price and is easily avalibe at your local O'reilly's Auto Parts for $4. 

 

The Purolator L30005 is about like the AC Delco. Just more expensive and filters a little better. Purolator filters had some internal sealing issues a few years ago, but so far all the filters I've recently been getting have been alright, so I'm thinking they fixed the issues. Purolators can be hard to find if you don't have a Pep Boy's nearby.

 

I usually end up running the AC Delco.   I currently have a stash of NOS super high quality STP and ancient Fram filters that each weighseveral pounds and filter like you wouldn't imagine. Old filters are the best...
