This is the mega show for all things Nash, Rambler AMC, Jeep and Metropolitans. I believe I have only seen 4 or 5 Hudsons in the past.
Lots of parts at the swap meet. The best part is no judging or points nonsense, just a great gathering of enthusiasts. |

I was talking to an AMC friend last night that is about to start showing his newly restored 70 AMX. He was asking about the upcoming AMO show in Gettysburg and the show at Kenosha. During the conversation I suggested to him I thought it was difficult for many AMC hobbyist to attend both shows due to travel and the fact that they are so close together time wise. That initiated another conversation about possibly having the AMO National show in Kenosha during the Kenosha homecoming when they occur. ( every 3-4 years) I know the AMO shows were originally held in Kenosha before they started moving around to make it more convenient for members across the country and in Canada to get to one of these great shows. That wouldn't really change . It would make sense to me to combine the two shows and hopefully draw an even larger contingent back to the homecoming and home of AMC...... Just a thought....

This comes up quite often, and believe me it is something that has been looked at. I'm not saying it won't ever happen, but the logistics of making it happen are very difficult. Add to that fact that the no-judging component of kenosha is a big part of the draw, and I think you are looking at two very different events.
There are issues of holding a judged show within a show that isn't judged, hotel and banquet space, lack of an actual club in Kenosha to run the show, and the fact that the Kenosha show is an event held and run buy the city of Kenosha. These are just some of the issues in combining these. For anyone who has been a judge at an AMO show, have you ever had trouble finding a car? Imagine tracking a 'lost' car down in that snowfield! We (AMO) have looked at this in depth, and unfortunately there just isn't an easy answer to question. A few years ago I did both back to back when they were one week apart, and it was more than I think I will do again. I know many agreed. This year the shows are a month apart to help spread things out. If you look at other brands of cars there are multiple 'big' shows each year - we only run into this every 3-5 years at this time. |
