Not sure if this belongs here or electrical, but the question has more to do with dash fitment so I'll put it here. I'm looking at putting in a new radio for my 1970 Javelin but I want it to remain original looking. I found Retromanufacturings line of radios (http://www.retromanufacturing.com/pages/retrosound-laguna-radio) but doesn't sound like the faceplate opening on the 1970 Javelins were the right size (I believe it will fit 1971 and up). Does anyone know of a similar radio that will fit into the 70's model? What have others done? The original plan was to put it in the glove box but its so tiny and flimsy.

I have, and I was told it would work if the faceplate hole where the radio sticks through is 3.5” X 1.5”. I don't have it hear in front of me but I thought the height was much closer to 1". I just got off the phone with my dad though and got an actual measurement, and apparently its just a hair over 1.5" x 3.5" so I'm going to put an order in an I'll update here to let you know how it goes.

I've purchased 2 of the Retro sound radios and have been very happy. I'll snap and post a couple of photos tonight of my modified face plate. You'll have to slightly modify the side brackets where the tuning/volume studs go thru the face plate holes.

It may have been the speaker you saw, they do offer the front dash speaker for the older Javelins

For about 390.00 you can have your orginial radio moderized Vintage Auto Radio. Works and sounds great.

Just thought I'd update this thread as I got the Retrosound Hermosa installed this weekend. It fit with some small alterations needed behind the dash to make it fit. Looks pretty good if you ask me, and it's got pretty much any feature you could ask for.
