are there any kits out there? or has anyone built a custom set. and why sometimes do people put only one but some people put two. wouldnt only one pretty much accomplish the task of two? and would this work better than your caltracs?

I have never installed or run Ladder bars so cant say good or bad about them but can tell you the Caltracs work pretty good for me. I am using new stock rear leaf springs and cheap gas shocks out back. Up front CE 19/10 shocks, 6 cly springs (new), sway bar removed from car, junk 360/TH400. With my setup a little bar adjustment makes a big difference.

From what I hear, the goal is to have the point which the axle pivots to be as far forward as possible, to transfer the weight to the rear when the axle tries to wrap. Is that true or over exagerated

I would not say as far forward as possible but more than it is with just the spring if you did not have to worry about spring wrap/wheel hop. Every car will have a different front point (IC) and as the track changes you will need to change the IC point.

Now looking over Google ladder bars all of them I saw had the work of installing a 4 link setup. Now I do remember something about ladderbars & leaf springs needing a spring slider setup. So why go thru all that work of welding in the front mount, brackets on the housing for the rear bar mount and still need to work out the slider setup if keeping leafs or more mounts for coil over springs. So if you dont have the tools or the skill to install you have to spend more money to someone to do it for you.
Now if you can change out leaf springs you can install the Caltrac bars. No cutting or welding needed and if you ever wanted to return the car back to stock you can just un-bolt it.
Only thing easier to install if you can find the right size would be slapper bars or traction bars but they are harder to make adjustments to at the track.
My take on most things K.I.S.S.  go with the Caltracs Wink

Yea the caltracs do seem Awsome. I just was wondering if a custom built ladder bar would be cheaper and acomplish the same thing better. I am definatly running out of funds for my car lately. So cheaper is better hahahah. But I think I may just save up for the caltracs.

For now you might find a cheap set of slapper bars. You know they hang below the spring and have a rubber bumper out front. That bumper is to hit the front of the spring where the bolt is not behind it. If you find a set too short  just get some square metal stock that fits inside the bar to extend it and remount the rubber to that part and call it done.
My street Javelin has slappers and they will stay on till I find a reason to pull them and go with something else but most likely Caltracs. Then again I am setting it up to handle turns so who knows.

Slappers will improve launch and handling. You can adjust the snubber on the front to change both characteristics somewhat. For handling they work similar to a sway bar -- when one side spring starts to compress the slapper end contacts the spring and checks compression (will still compress some behind the axle, but compression is greatly reduced) and the other side is forced to compress, which keeps the car flat in the rear -- exactly what a sway bar does. Get the snubber too close and you will have a rough ride and not much handling improvement though -- you need some spring movement. Easy enough to adjust until you get it right, and the bars are cheap. I'd rather have Cal-Tracs, but if you need something until you can afford them slappers will work.
