I am hoping that someone may have specifications for lowered front coil springs.
Car is 69 Javelin with 360.
Engine has iron heads and aluminium inlet.
No A/C fitted.
The aim is to lower 2 inches.
The current springs are too low and cause issues.
Current springs are
5.0 inch OD
0.513 wire diameter
16 inch free length
Seems to be 9 full coils if you don't count the flattened ends.
I am not sure if these are stock springs reset to a lower height.
Would anyone have specifications that I could use to purchase new springs or get a pair made.
Thanks John.

John,

I don't have any specs but if all else fails you may want to talk to Eaton/Detroit Spring. At the very least they could make them for you based on the ride height your looking for as they claim to have all the factory information. Now how affordable they would be with the shipping fees and taxes going back down under is another question.

Here you go:

6 cylinder V-8  Non A/C  V-8  w/ A/C
Inner Diameter 5.020 5.020 5.020
Bar Diameter .660 .687 .687
Install Height 9.5 9.5 9.5
Load(LBS) 1591 1690
Spring Rate(LBS) 258 306.6 311.2
Free Height 14.81 14.38 14.92

Of course these measurements are in standard.

Lots of folks have great success just using the 6 cylinder springs, which drop the front end down further when installed in a V-8.

Hope this helps.

FYI  the springs will run you close to 500 if they are custom made.  Then the shipping would get you.

I bought a set of 1 1/2" drop front coils about 6-7 years ago for my former 70 Donohue Javelin from:

http://www.coilsprings.com/classic.aspx

They were from what I remember $160 + shipping. They were very high quality and spot on.

Would these specs be for 70 and up?
My TSM has much lower wire diameters load rates.
I am hoping that someone has already ordered lower springs and has the details.

Eaton does not have nor will not make front coils for our cars anymore.
Try springs and things

I got new coils from springs & things 2 years ago for the AMX. I told them v8/ non a/c and they're too high-- not happy at all. Maybe you should do what bbgjc said above: 6 cyl. springs.
JK
p.s. The pic below was before the new springs- looks good but too harsh.

I too got a terrible set of springs for, in my case, the rear of my Ambassador. Not even close!

I talked to someone at coil spring specialties. I was armed with the specs from the TSM. I discussed with them exactly what I wanted--- based on but not exactly what was in the TSM--- and they did GREAT. And they were very reasonable as to price and lead time.

I suggest that you take the data from your TSM and give them a call.
