While awiating a new A/C compressor and brkts,I have begun on the inside of the car, with the quarter glass installation  and subsequent regluing the glass to the tracks, as they both pulled out, probably because the roof rail w/strip is so tight.I have the rear speakers installed, along with the package tray and heated back glass.Next up is the headliner. While I locate the headliner retainers (It's only been 10 years since I removed them!)I thought I would spruce up the worn looking '71 switch cover. As with most, the chrome silver trim was worn away. I had luck locating a 1/16" chrome pinstripe tape on Amazon, for less than 3 bucks. This tape really gives a new look to the assembly, along with the switch labels I painted flat white. I don't know how you guys with the '72-'74 Javelins would ever reproduce the lettering on your panels. The '71's (and some very early '72's) are the only ones with "raised" lettering.   I used a transparent white for the back-lit names above,so they would still illuminate.

The last few nights,I have been working on installing the door glass, and refurbing the glass regulator parts. I also fabbed up some anti-rattle rubbers for the lock rod from an old inner tube to replace the originals, which are most always ripped and just hanging around under the door panels, lol.I used some silicone grease to prevent binding...

While picking apart several parts doors, I noticed a usually invisible difference between the '71 and the 72-74 Javelins. The late Bob Browske was great at documenting these differences, and these changes really make the '71 Javelin so interesting. The '71 used four of the plastic guide retainers, and in '72, AMC saw a need to change that to only two! Anyone know the reason?

This is a beautiful restoration truly a piece of history.  Well done man that kind of attention to detail is truly a gift.

I am in the process of refurbing all my window components also...PITA.  I don't know if you saw my post in the Body/Interior section about the window guide spacers that you can get from NPD for $0.95 each (compared to $8 for a pair from the AMC vendors).  They are exactly the same as the originals but much better quality.

You are doing a great job!  Wish my car was as far along as yours.
