Hello guys, I've been searching for information about my AMC 1968 REBEL 550, 4 DOORS, 6 CILINDERS for days and I can not find any image of someone who has a similar one, as well as logos, interior pieces or information about this particular model (look the steering wheel drive! is different to any also the back lights), I do not know if it would go down in history as being very rare or definitely my car was not popular and all were directly to the junkyard OR DEFINITIVELY IT IS NOT ORIGINAL AND IT IS A DIRTY COPY. Could experts at AMC help me identify what happens with this model?  I bought it in Mexico but it came from TEXAS, MADE IN USA.

To say more about it, our experts need the VIN and a Picture of the doorplate.. on the driversside door.

maybe its made by VAM  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veh%C3%ADculos_Automotores_Mexicanos

If you can give us a picture of the door tag where it gives such info as MODEL, TRIM and PAINT.  Also the VIN number.  Your car appears to be just what you say it is (MODEL 6815) a '68 Rebel 550 four door sedan.  There were 14,712 built.  Originally the car was ordered with air conditioning and an AM radio.

Looks like a pretty normal '68 4 door Rebel to me. There just aren't many of them around to compare them to.

I'm certainly no expert but it looks legit to me. Remember, you have a car intended for non-US market buyers and they are different in many ways from US market cars. And a nice example at that! I wish my '65 Classic was as nice.

Maybe I was not clear enough, it's a car made and rolled from new in USA and imported to Mexico later, is not a VAM. There is no door tag (missing Broken Heart). Good to know it seems original. Yes, sadly aren't many of them around to compare them to.

Not an export model. In the border areas cars from the US can be registered without paying import duty so lots of US market cars are there. If it was a VAM, it would be a Rambler Classic, not a Rebel.

Very cool Rebel. 4 Door with 6 cyl and 3 on the tree! Must not be many of these left on Earth
