I remember that one too. Was three late model Jeep intakes welded together to make a three duce intake. I don't know who it was either but it sure was neat!

If I were wanting to make something like this I'd cut a flange from 3/8" steel and weld steel pipe fittings to it, or you could use exhaust tubing. Then weld a flange for the carbs to the other end. It wouldn't work well in cold weather, but you could drill the elbows near the bottom of the carb and run a piece of 1/2" or so tubing through them, linking all three together and providing water heating. I wouldn't try cutting and welding three intakes together, but it would work. I'm not skilled enough welding aluminum to do it, but can weld steel just fine.

My Buddy, Tim Maples, used to campaign a yellow & brown EC4WD Association Sand Drag JEEP named STAMPEDE, that used a CLIFFORD three two barrel Intake & Three (3) Side Draft Weber Carbs on it ... It ran like the proverbial "striped assed ape" :-)

Speaking of Nosigma does anyone here have his old 4.0 head porting posts archived on their HD? I've managed to google his stuff from the "old" AMC forums, but right when he was concluding the exhaust work appearently the "new" forum came up (this one I'm guessing) and he left it a cliff hanger... Unfortunately no amount of searching finds the continuation. I've asked him about it, but he doesn't have it saved either. (He's active on Jeep forums I frequent). Obviously while searching I found this thread, and since some of you may know what I'm talking about I figured I'd give it a shot.

I googled myself this morning and as a result found TheAMCForum. I am real happy this site is up and I will be a frequent visitor.
Still have my notes from the flow bench work I did but its mostly test data (flows and velocity maps) with a few cutting notes. I had planned on making port castings but got into to much of hurry to finish the motor before moving to San Diego. The best info on my porting was was posted on the old forum. I usually posted each night after working on the head and detailed what I did and the numbers that I got.
The Rambler ended up as good as I hoped. Wicked fast and a bit scary to drive when on the throttle hard. The jetting isnt perfect but close. I got an Innovate Motorsports wide band 02 sensor with a 6 channed data acquisition system for Christmas so I will soon have the jetting, timing and advance curves pefected (so I hope).
I have a question about exhaust headers and will post that seperately.
Bottom line: I am around and I am glad this site is too.

welcome back John!
I actually do have all of your old ezboard posts on the 4.0 head porting. I printed the whole thread off before that forum closed up. I should dig them out and scan them in! |

Matty401,
Yes I saw that intake on the old forum.
I would just love to have something like that to put on a 258 with 3 small Holley 2 bbls.
Kinda like a 6 cylinder 6 pack.
