Yes, it is. It is the best factory installed intake with the exception of the Machine intake, and the differences aren't huge.

I've back to backed a small and a big (careful what you say here!) on a ~300 hp engine and the big port was 10-15 hp better. That's pretty significant for a stock piece.

Thanks for responding. That certainly is a substantial increase. The reason that I asked is that back when these cars were new, I read in a magazine that the 390 intake was good for an added 12 hp over a 290/343 intake. I wasn't sure if that was on a stock engine or what.

Do you have any idea if the 72 360 intake runners and ports are the same size as the 290/343 intake or not? The port openings on the 72 360 are smaller, but not by a huge amount compared to the #5532. I can't tell much about the inside runner size. Is there a noticeable difference in the 390 and 290/343 intakes just by looking? Do they have real small ports like a Holley Z or an Edelbrock SP2P? Thanks again.

Use this as a guide.

Small port casting numbers:
3179286
3186925
3213989
3217486

Large port casting numbers:
3191736
3195532
3199762

There may be others. but these are common ones I have run across through the years.
