Those things are the bomb for wood and make so much better hole then hole saw. If they were for steel/metal they would not have the scrapper from the middle point to the teeth, the teeth would be much finer and the "scrappers, would actually go all the way to the middle. In wood the point keeps it centered as you bore the hole, really hard to displace metal like that...nice find, the gold color is a bonus, that is TiN Coating, Titanium Nitrided, which keeps them sharper, longer and easier to clean off the wood sap.
