I'm trying to identify what crankshafts I have, casting # 3196921 on both, and dates is 3 -70 other 9-69. So are these 70 390 cranks or 401, according to casting #s the are 401s |

Long standing AMC who knows on this one:
http://theamcforum.com/forum/crankshaft-319-6921-casting-number_topic30621.html I believe your going to have to measure the stroke on each one to ensure what you have.

401 has larger counter balances. Would not think a 69 stamp would cover the 401 manufacturing date.

the dates should tell what I have correct, date stamp 69 would be 390 and 70 is either 70 390 0r 401, I did see where on casting #3196921 the last # looks to be stamped over a 2

Not sure about your last question, but '68-69 390 cranks are the same; '70 390 crank is different.

That last photo looks like the rod journal is offset ground for a stroker.
Since I see an aftermarket rod in another photo you need to measure it all. Tom |
