Ok everyone. Time once again for your favorite game and mine, "ID THAT FLEXPLATE". Today we are playing for pride not prize. You get the pride of know that you came up with the correct answer. Thanks for playing.

First up, can someone validate this as a real 360 BW flexplate? I know it is marked but we don't who marked it, when it was marked, or if it was even marked correctly. No part numbers, no date codes, no anything other than the magic marker.

Up next we have a mystery guest. No markings, no date codes, no weight block, and no magic marker. Anyone have a clue one this one?

I would guess the Mystery guest is a 290 flexplate.

First one is a 390 or 360 flex plate. Second is a 343.

Thanks Bryan. Any way we could nail down number one as one or the other? Weight block size or some other voodoo measurement? I hate to trust in some old magic marker scribbling if there is a more exacting method available.

I have a factory replacement 343 BW flex plate and it has a counter weight, and just did a 343 for 67 Ambo that had counter weight.  All 390/401's had counterweights (larger then 343/360) that had BW auto's behind them.  Since it doesn't look like any weights have been removed......It has been 20 years plus since I parted a 290 with M-11 trans (AMX only), I would wager that it is 290.....the front damper looks same 290/343, concentric on the outside, but are very different in the center for balance.....my bet is 290, through elimination of known articles.

I have two 290/M11 flexplates and they both have 3 oval holes. I can't remember if they have weights or not.

Pit crew,
Every 343 flexplate I have seen looks exactly like the second one pictured. I have had 4-5 of these pass through my hands. I have had 1 1970 390 that had the counterweight seen in the first photo. I sold it a while back so I do not have it for photo reference now. Sorry I can not be of more help.

Measure the weight and I can tell you if it is a 360 or a 390 flex plate.  The rest of them without a weight is for a 343.    A M11 for a 290 would be ultra rare because AMC only used the M11 behind a 290 is when it was a 4 barrel carb.  I.E. a AMX with a 290 4 barrel Automatic.

Thanks everyone. I'll measure the weight block today and post the results.
