Will a steering column from a gremlin fit a hornet ?     I need a steering column with column automatic shift and ignition key....

You should be fine interchanging those...Do keep in mind that 70 and 71 used a different style shift lever and turn signal lever as well...They would probably interchange too, but the style of the things would be off a bit...Bob in Alabama

Spirit, Concord, and Eagle will fit also. May require some minor mods, and of course styles will be a bit different, but all should just about bolt in. Id get the steering shaft with the column, as may be a difference in shaft length over the years.

the GM style columns for automatics (key in the column not the dash) won't work with the Flashomatic. different detent spacing. the later Torqueflites, P R N D L spacing is even; Borg Warner M35 (Flash O Matic) P is further apart from R N D L and different spacing.

lol, guess how i figured that out.

it also means aftermarket shifters (B&M Megashift etc) dont work with the M35. even if you change the cable stroke you can't get park, or park works but nothing else.

the coolest shifter in the world for the flash-o-matic is the '62 Ambassador pushbutton system!
