I could use some help and/or advice or suggestions, please.
1961 Rambler American: Under Side of Hood The hood has come apart from where it meets the cross bracing on the under side of the hood. Original Factory Adhesive is still on the cross member, but has dried out and separated from the hood. Anyone know what adhesive/caulk was used by the factory ? I tried 3M Caulk Strips......too soft & flexible. I was thinking spot welding...... car is going to be painted anyway. Any and All suggestions welcomed. Thanks |

Do not weld
It needs to be flexible the hood expands and contracs with hot and cold, 3M has a flexible expanding foam put just a little in each spot and let it cure. It will stay soft and will still hold everything from rattling Welding or glueing to solid will cause stress marks in the top of the hood when it expandsand contracs

I can't remember what I used on mine, but it has all cracked and separated, so movement is a must.
Mine didn't move so it cracked |
