Just finished my 350 Holley conversion on my Aussie 67 American. I had nothing but grief with the WCD Carter 2 bbl, despite going through it over a dozen times using the TSM as a reference. It looks a bit weird, mounted sideways but it has been another modification to this car that has just made it better to drive than it ever has been.

My son is running a 500 cfm, that is what we had on the shelf, on his Jeep with 258. He is also running a high out put IGN system. So far he loves it, been on 6+ months now.

Many years ago, I had a '70 Javelin SST 304 with A/C, auto etc. It was my sales car and ran like crap. I was going to buy a rebuilt carb but fornd that the speed shops had the Holley Economaster (I think that's the name) for the same money. Let me think. A new carb or rebuilt? Hmm. I bought the Holley and it ran so sweet, it felt like I had a four barrel on it. It was fast. So of course, it should be discontinued. What a shame.
Later!

Back in about 1979-80 we had a 73 Gremiln that ran like crap after muliple rebuits. We found out that Holley made those economasters and bought the single barrel version. wow, big pickup in power and overall drivability was wonderfull. I don't know what CFM they went with but you could hear a much throatier - bwah- sound. (teenagers like that sound, I still do) EDIT: I even talked dad into a Cherry Bomb! With the full tailpipe it had just the right amount of sound. Good for me and quiet enough mom did not complain! Edited by Wrambler - Apr/26/2012 at 10:43am |

Yall are making me want to step up from my holley 390 to a 500 or 600. Im running 10.08 while spinning off the line in the 1/8 mile. I just may try a 600 model 4010 i have sitting around...wishful thinking probably. Fuzz-is that 500 you mention a discontinued Holley?

I also have a 2300 500 cfm on my 75 304 stock manifold run great too.
If you do a search on the web for Jeep Motocraft (2100?) swap the 2300 is the same swap.

I wasnt to keen on running the 14" chrome air cleaner I had for the Holley. So I cut down the chrome air cleaner base to fit inside the original factory rambler air cleaner lid. Once the lid was put on the holley, it just looks like the way it was originally.
I took it for a good run on sunday to a car show about an hours drive away, which needed a run over the top of the local mountain range to get there. I found I get better fuel economy, more power(went up the range in top gear all the way), and runs and idles smoother than ever. ![]()
