Looks like he was a prolific designer/builder.

Last convo I had with Barry about the spreadport herman heads were that they had not made the power that the Siamese stuff did. But with that said not much time to r+d them before he died.

Matt, I'm fully aware that Edelbrock made them, but they were specifically for Traco's use. Show me where they were ever offered to the public. If you can do that then I'll concede that my understanding of them being a Traco exclusive is inaccurate.

That picture wasnt intended to satisfy you Steve. Did Traco use Edelbrock for anything?

I feel it goes without saying you wouldn't do anything for my benefit. Back when Traco was a supplier of road race type engines they designed that manifold and apparently had Edelbrock cast them. That's what I've understood over the years anyway, and that Herman acquired one and started reproducing them.

I don't know nor really care the origin but what about the 2x4 intake that was cast that said traco on it?If traco was the originator of this particular intake then why did it not have traco cast into this one?

That's puzzling all wright, possibly because Edelbrock didn't find making manifolds for Traco to be worthwhile after all? At least posting the picture of the unique Traco dual quad does demonstrate that they were acquiring limited production pieces from somewhere. I'm pretty sure Traco didn't have their own foundry. Based on the unfinished example of what would later become the HLR manifold, it stands to reason Edelbrock was just producing the castings and not the finished product?

My input is based on hearsay over the years, maybe someone can add more than theory or conjecture?
