Good evening!
A search on the internet has proven fruitless so far... Trying to cross reference some front disc brake part numbers to find appropriate rebuild parts...I believe they are from the same Bendix single piston front disc system from the mid-1970's. Part numbers I have: Caliper bracket: 2238388-L and 2238389-R Dust shield: 3229034-R and 3229035-L Steering arm: 3215162-L and 3215163-R At this point I don't have a caliper or rotor number to work with...any help to figure out what year/model these parts came off...so I can find replacement parts...would be greatly appreciated...would like to upgrade to front (power) disc brake system on '68 AMX. PM or post... Thank you! Michael |

I assume you have the parts but are not sure what they fit. It might be easier to post pictures and ask if anybody knows what system it is.

I have looked in some parts books I have with the p/ns you listed. Nothing turns up in the 1973 to 74 book. The caliper bracket starting with 223 seems an odd number. Can't find it. The dust shield matches the single piston bendix on the 1979/80 01-40 series, so thought the other parts may be part of that system. They maybe, but the numbers given don't come up. Where did you get those numbers from ? The steering arms I can't find. By steering arms you mean tie rod ends or steering stops ? (For other people, Gr 10.126-1, 10.122-2 and 10.035) |

Good morning!
The car is in Indiana...I'm in E. Ohio...will get a pic in the next couple of weeks. (or I'll request assistance in getting one) I did some more searching... What I did find was this previous post...that's the same caliper bracket I have...but after reading the thread...I still don't believe there was a resolution. (at least not in the thread...but it may jog somebody's memory) http://theamcforum.com/forum/match-the-holder-to-the-caliper_topic9993.html (not sure how to make the link active) 74gremx...great info.! With the dust shields coming up as '79/'80 (assuming I got a matched set of parts)...maybe that will help identify the rest. The part numbers came off the actual pieces/parts themselves. Thank you for the feedback! *thumbs up* Michael Edited by AMoCoLite - Dec/04/2016 at 5:15am |

Check the numbers on your caliper brackets, AMC never used a 223 series on numbers, it is most likely a 323, which is in line with your other parts.

Understood...it does look out of place. That being said...it does match the caliper bracket part number (and picture) from a previous thread. (I attempted to post a link to that thread...couldn't seem to make it an active link though...but it is copy/paste able.) Will attempt to verify part number and get pics. (will need an assist from TX390AMX when he has time or I will grab it later this month) Thank you! |
