Have the original manifolds on my 71 304 javelin, picked up a pair of rusty headers at the kenosha show and had them ceramic coated for cheap - look awesome.  Looking to put new bolts on, anyone know the correct size i should use? Copper or paper gaskets, size?

Thanks!

If you didn't get the headers "trued up" (the shop determines if the flange is flat or not--if not flat, then the flange can be belt sanded), then I would use "remflex" gaskets. I had an exhaust leak after the headers were trued up and the gasket eliminated the leak. Others have their preferences.

Yeah but try getting them off when they rust up! I've been there and it's not fun. If you do use them, get stainless instead of regular steel.

I have 3/8" thick header flanges. I used 3/8"-16 X 1 1/4" long header bolts. You can get them with 3/8" hex heads so there is no drama getting a box wrench on them as long as the tubes are properly clearanced at the flange.

I'm using the felpro exhaust manifold gaskets on mine. The ones with the metal face on one side. Since they are 3 pc per side it's a bit of an act to get them all in there. They seem to hold up a lot better than the soft ones I had, they blew out. With these even after I had a bolt come loose they held up. Just tightened it back up and it was all good.

They might back out over time anyway and I haven't found a replacement for the OEM hollowed out bolts.
