You said one cylinder hasd a piston problem. If it was detonation the top ring land may be damaged, meaning you have to drop the pan at the very least and push the rod and piston up to check.

Lucky for me, the pan has no problem coming out while its still in the jeep!

Thanks for the other info too guys, i was kinda thinking it might be $$$ for little or no improvement where i want it.  Changing the valve angle may be worth looking into though.  I think the Singh grooves would be a fun thing to try here though!  I hadn't thought about that, thanks!
