Would a stock 199 and 232 share the same harmonic balancer or are they different for each?

I'm thinking they're the same.

The are the same.  But the 232 balancer changed to a larger style with the timing mark on the driver side of the front cover in the mid-seventies, i think at the same time AMC went to the Delco SI alternator on the sixes.  So an early 232 and a 199 should be the same.  Joe

74 is when the change occurred -- 73 and earlier, 74 and later swap.
