not me, it sounded like that, my sister doesn't know but yeh, Garry bought it for her. Once he looked at it and realised what it was, and the build date (same as my sisters birth month and year), he could not resist....lol
He rang me last night and told me about it. (don't put it in your magazine yet please) |

Sounds like a great score, good to see it has been saved and will return to it's former glory.

All good. Another Grem getting looked after. I must start a 'register' of the known ones here in Australia. Must be 5 or 6 now.

I just got the VIN from the door sticker and the dash plate, numbers match. It is a factory August 1971 built 1972 Gremlin X 304 V8 3 spd manual in Butterscotch Gold paint and tan interior. I'm now trying to work out the percentage of V8 Gremlins to 6cyl versions that were recorded from 73 to 76. No 1972 V8/6cyl breakdowns can be found on google. Once I work that out, I can then use the VIN (last six digits) to work out how early this V8 Gremlin is. So far I can get it as low as within the first thousand Gremlin V8's ever built. More calculations to be done. I hate MATHS. Around 30,000 V8 Gremlins were ever made in all years combined.

According to a book I have, the 72 Gremlin was the first year to have a V8. They made 94,808 total in that year, of which 10,949 were V8's. Price then was $2153. Add $285 for the "X" package.
Build figures: 1970 28,560 1971 76,908 1972 94,808 1973 122,844 1974 171,128 1975 56,011 1976 52,941 1977 46,171 Edited by 74gremx - Feb/28/2013 at 5:21am |
