Is there anyone making a good quality rear drum brake kit for an AMX with a factory rear axle? I'm redoing everything and I don't have high hopes that anything brake related will be reusable, the car hasn't been driven since the early 80s.

Actually Rock Auto does carry most of the rear brake parts for your car. No drums though. Hopefully you can cut yours and they will still be in spec.

Our AMC vendors have replacement drums that will work fine if you need them.
74 Hornet Hatchback X twins (since 1977)
62 American Convertible (still worth the $50 I spent in 1973!) AMCRC #513, AMO #384
70 AMX 360 4-speed (since 1981)

I don't think they carry the correct flanged drums. I could be wrong though.

No. But a perfectly fine replacement, yes.

Safety trumps concours quality, or at least it should - unless the car is rolled off a trailer for the car show and then rolled back in when it’s over.

I put my originals in a box and use the reproductions/ aftermarket ones for driving around. I want whoa with my go.

I put early 1990's jeep finned new 10" brake drums on my 69 AMX, no fitment issues

I bought them from Rock Auto along with all new drum brake hardware and 10" "performance" shoes

if you want to talk to some actual brake actual experts, who can probably make up any sort of performance drum or other brake, call C. H. Topping in Long Beach CA. they know old stuff, new stuff, race stuff. super clean shop, top notch employees. if anyone could tell you about drum brake choices it would be them.
