Ok, no dumb questions, right? I have a used R4B from a post 69 car. It has the splash shield on the bottom already. Do I use the valley pan intake gasket with it alone or will Edlebrock "strip type" intake gaskets fit with it?
Thanks, Joe |

I always use the metal valley pan and the baffle whenever possible. They are both part of the factory PCV oil-air separator system, and the factory engineers knew what they were doing. I'll even limit the porting at the flange to keep a stock gasket on a street engine with the stock PCV system and have done so sucessfully approching 600 hp.
But if you have to make the ports bigger for the application one of the 2 seems to OK as long as the engine has a good ring seal. But if you are not carefull you can have an engine that really huffs oil out the PCV.
