Trying to remove the ignition switch from a 1966 Marlin. Service manual says something like to push in from the back and turn. Apparently it should just come out.

Mine doesn't. It pushes in and turns back and forth and that is it. Won't come out. Looking at the switch from under the dash do I turn the switch clockwise or counter clockwise. Any tricks that I should try or am I missing a step that the service manual doesn't mention?

it should push in and turn a 1/4 turn and pull out if you hold the switch and turn the bezel or the other way may be easier turn the switch and hold bezel if it correct it has a spring on it to pop it loose

Got it out. Turned and wiggled it a little and popped out, looks like a little surface rust in the swithch barrel was holding it in.
