Anybody have the original speaker harness for the 8 track? Part # 3192141 and # 3192142. I am curious on what kind of plug are original for the rear speakers? Molded plastic or spade type? Any help out there would be appreciated. Also, what speakers were used in the Javelin rear deck for the 8 track. I have the Amx speakers figured out.
Thanks Rod |

Rod Javelin used an 8" round rear speaker, which was the 'normal' rear speaker in other AMC cars (other than AMX) from '67 to '69 or so. I have a part # I can add later. Paul There purports to be an original wire harness for the AMX on ebay. It does have a splice or two, but you can see the connectors easily.

Actually the rear deck speakers for the 67 and up big body cars and the first generation Javelins was a very odd 7" round size with uneven spacing for the 4 retaining screws. Some Mopars also used this odd size. Antique Auto Radio makes a replacement that uses a standard 6-1/2 round speaker with an adapter ring. The OEM speaker was made by Heppner, long out of business. An 8" round speaker would be a very suitable substitute but an adapter would have to be fabricated to correct for the size as well as the offset ataching screw hole spacing.

I hooked mine up for a 73 javelin and actually had an original fader switch which uses trailer like connectors .
Actually on my 73 these connectors are used for a bunch of different things under the dash. They are just like these here. I used that place to connect my radio like OEM did. |
