I have Hooker 7103s with Indy SRs in a '74 Javelin.  They also need the engine mount cushion trimmed slightly - not a big deal.   It's covered in their instructions.   The Indy's have slightly raised ports, so not sure if the headers clear ARPs without grinding.  I had them on stock heads before and ground them to clear.  Also fit fine with a 727 (now have a T56).

I think American Racing and maybe some custom headers are only ones that clear ARPs without grinding - but best to check to confirm.  Issue with their big-car headers is they won't clear a wide-sump pan but ok with deep sump.   Their small car headers are supposed to clear, but haven't seen many reports on them yet.   Small car headers may be a better choice for the AMX, but best to check fitment with someone who has installed them.

Hope this helps, RD

for the 7103 headers it says "Interference on passenger side shock tower will occur when retrofitting 1970 and later 304, 360 & 401S into 1968-69 bodies"

the Doug's 1 7/8 headers say the same thing. is there something different about the 68-9 cars?

Yes, the spring tower design hanged slightly due to hanging from upper trunnions (68-69 on Javelin and AMX. 64-69 on American/Rogue) to ball upper ball joints (70+). The lower trunnions were changed to a ball joint back in 62 for the big cars, 64 for American.

that makes sense. does anyone have the American Racing 1 7/8 headers on a pre-70 AMX? if they fit as well that's a big bonus for ARH
