Anyone know what makes Edelbrock's water pumps worth $269.65? A bit spendy unless they'll last forever.

Your post is obviously a loaded question, but I will bite anyway.

The edelbrock pump has several benefits over a stock pump. However the benefits may not be worth the price for most people. The price really isn’t that out of line compared with other high flow pumps with a cast or machined impeller.

Potential benefits:
1. Tighter tolerance castings.
2. NPT fittings that can be adapted to AN fittings.
3. High efficiency impeller.
4. Available in both early and late pump height.
5. Larger bearings and shaft.
6. Heavy duty multi pattern hub flange.

Potential downsides:
1. Included bypass fitting is too small to use OEM hose.
2. Fittings can interfere with some mounting brackets.
3. Casting is sometimes known to rub balancer.
4. Dose not have OEM appearance.

I hope you have better luck than I did. I bought one from Jeg's and it took at least 6, maybe 8  months. They kept changing the arrival date of when it would be in stock.

I'd have sworn Jegs showed it in stock, now they're saying ship 11/19/2018. Summit shows in stock. Maybe I should cancel my Jegs order and try Summit.

They charged my credit card right away, and Edelbrock was out of stock. I had to wait for them to gear up production for another run. If you find it in stock, you may want to get it, based on my experience. I ordered a different water pump and used it, and am keeping the Edelbrock as a spare. I have 2 AMC's that use the same one.

Your first post looked to me like whining about price, rather than genuine interest. My apologies about that.

It's all good, thanks for answering my question.

BTW: Checked on my order from Jegs, it's on it's way. Guess I got the last one they had.

I apologize ahead of time, but I cannot resist....

The only things that last forever are death, taxes and the wife complaining about more cars/parts.....
